Good morning, dear friends...

Last night my husband and I heard Richard Owen Roberts preach a powerful message. Mr. Roberts is President and Founder of International Awakening Ministries of the Wheaton, IL area. With over sixty years of experience as a student of spiritual awakenings, he brought a relevant message on personal revival and reformation.

Here's a few notes on what impressed me:

King Rebohoboam did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the Lord (2 Chron. 12:14). Do I set my heart to seek the Lord? Or do I first seek comfort, ease, and no conflict? Do I first seek to have my book published? Am I seeking first to do good stuff for the Father?

God wants each of us to seek Him before all.

King Asa did good and right in the sight of the Lord his God. He removed foreign altars and idols and commanded the people to seek the Lord God of their fathers and to observe the law and commandments (2 Chron. 14:1-15; 15:1-19).

Asa assembled the people and they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul. And whoever would not seek the Lord, well, it was a serious matter. See for yourself in 2 Chron. 15:13.

All the nation rejoiced concerning the oath, for they had sworn with their whole heart and sought Him earnestly, and He let them find Him. So the Lord gave them rest on every side.

Jesus gave instructions for us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33). How do we seek God, His kingdom, and His righteousness? What do we put before seeking God and His righteousness?

I plan to spend some time searching the Word of God to learn more about this important facet of a personal relationship with Almighty God.

First of all, I am struck with the amazing provision of God when He tore the curtain within the temple during the crucifixion of Jesus (Luke 23:45). Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, God allows us to personally enter His Holy Presence. Prior to that time, only the High Priest could enter and then only once a year. What an amazing privilege we have!

Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace that we may find mercy and grace to help in time of need (Heb. 4:16). Let us draw near God and He will draw near us (James 4:8).

Let's explore this concept further in a future post.

May each of us set aside time today to seek the Lord. He promised that He will be found when we seek Him.

All God's best for you!

  1. This crucifixion week I have been thinking of Jesus being stripped naked, blindfolded, beaten, and being mocked by asking Him to guess which ones were beating Him. How could we not fall on our knees for what He has done for us!
