Greetings, Friends!

Here's a few of my thoughts on part two of Richard Owen Roberts' message at our church home, First Baptist in Cooper, TX.

First of all, Mr. Roberts took us to 2 Chronicles 7:14, a familiar passage for those who are concerned about our nation:

If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

No doubt our land and our people need forgiveness, healing and restoration of God Almighty.

We first took a brief look at humbling ourselves by comparing ourselves with Christ Jesus, instead of other people.

According to Mr. Roberts, we must not ask God to humble us, since this is something God clearly tells us to do for ourselves.

Then we looked at the prayer of Moses after the people built and worshipped the golden calf. Moses pleaded with God to forgive the people as he told the Lord, "If You will not forgive them, please blot me out of Your book that You have written" (Exodus 32:31-32).

Imagine Moses' willingness to remove himself from God's blessing if the sinful people were not forgiven. God draws people to Himself and provides the desire to seek forgiveness.

Does our concern for those who need the Lord cause us to pray as Moses prayed? Or do we pray light, fluffy prayers asking God to bless all the people?

Moses prayed for the people to receive God's forgiveness. He went to God on behalf of the sinful people of his day.

Do you need the healing power of God in your personal life?

When I share my personal testimony, I agree with the Psalmist, "God sent His Word and healed me" (Psalm 107:20). Yes, God healed me as I studied His Word with a few faithful women.

I recommend a valuable Bible study on God's care and deliverance, Lord, Heal My Hurts (Waterbrook, 2000) by Kay Arthur of Precept Ministries International.

From my experience, I know that God works through His Word to bring healing and restoration to the lives of those who seek Him.

May God meet you where you are today and reveal Himself to you. May you experience the hope of God in your daily life. God loves you and His provision for you exceeds all you can ever hope or imagine.

Thanks for stopping by! May you enjoy God's favor and blessings beyond all measure.
Ruth

BTW, I'll post more insights from Mr. Roberts later.

Good morning, dear friends...

Last night my husband and I heard Richard Owen Roberts preach a powerful message. Mr. Roberts is President and Founder of International Awakening Ministries of the Wheaton, IL area. With over sixty years of experience as a student of spiritual awakenings, he brought a relevant message on personal revival and reformation.

Here's a few notes on what impressed me:

King Rebohoboam did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the Lord (2 Chron. 12:14). Do I set my heart to seek the Lord? Or do I first seek comfort, ease, and no conflict? Do I first seek to have my book published? Am I seeking first to do good stuff for the Father?

God wants each of us to seek Him before all.

King Asa did good and right in the sight of the Lord his God. He removed foreign altars and idols and commanded the people to seek the Lord God of their fathers and to observe the law and commandments (2 Chron. 14:1-15; 15:1-19).

Asa assembled the people and they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul. And whoever would not seek the Lord, well, it was a serious matter. See for yourself in 2 Chron. 15:13.

All the nation rejoiced concerning the oath, for they had sworn with their whole heart and sought Him earnestly, and He let them find Him. So the Lord gave them rest on every side.

Jesus gave instructions for us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33). How do we seek God, His kingdom, and His righteousness? What do we put before seeking God and His righteousness?

I plan to spend some time searching the Word of God to learn more about this important facet of a personal relationship with Almighty God.

First of all, I am struck with the amazing provision of God when He tore the curtain within the temple during the crucifixion of Jesus (Luke 23:45). Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, God allows us to personally enter His Holy Presence. Prior to that time, only the High Priest could enter and then only once a year. What an amazing privilege we have!

Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace that we may find mercy and grace to help in time of need (Heb. 4:16). Let us draw near God and He will draw near us (James 4:8).

Let's explore this concept further in a future post.

May each of us set aside time today to seek the Lord. He promised that He will be found when we seek Him.

All God's best for you!
